India Cheers as Athletes Triumph on Return From Special Olympics World Winter Games 2025

New Delhi [India], March 17 (ANI): Special Olympics On Monday, Bharat hosted a welcoming event for the Indian athletes returning from Turin, Italy following their historic achievements in 2025. Special Olympics World Winter Games campaign.

The event, conducted at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium, was attended by the honorable Minister of State, Department of Youth Affairs and Sports , Raksha Khadse and President of Special Olympics Bharat, Mallika Nadda .

The officials were joined onstage by Special Olympics The Indian athlete Bharti, who clinched two gold medals in the competition.

The delegation from India, featuring 30 athletes and 19 team personnel, came back with a remarkable haul of 33 medals—comprising 8 gold, 18 silver, and 7 bronze—in various events such as alpine skiing, snowboarding, floorball, snowshoeing, short track speed skating, and cross-country skiing.

Acknowledging the athletes' accomplishments, the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports has declared higher cash rewards for the medalists. Gold medal winners in the competition will receive Rs. 20 lakhs, while silver and bronze medalists will be granted Rs. 14 lakhs and Rs. 8 lakhs, respectively.

In recognition of the athletes' accomplishment, the Minister of State applauded, Department of Youth Affairs and Sports , Raksha Khadse he stated, "We are immensely proud of the athletes who demonstrated remarkable performance in Turin. This underscores their resilience and the tremendous effort they invested to attain their achievements. Additionally, I want to extend my congratulations." Special Olympics India appreciates the efforts made to offer opportunities to people with intellectual disabilities, enabling them to demonstrate their capabilities on an international platform and bring pride to the whole nation."

Honouring the perseverance and outstanding achievements of the Indian athletes, Mallika Nadda , President of Special Olympics Bharat stated, "Our athletes have once again demonstrated that determination has no limits. Their performances at the World Winter Games They serve as an inspiration to everyone. These athletes have shattered all barriers and stereotypes to achieve this status, and I am incredibly proud of them.
