Assam Woman Held for Controversial Comments on Pahalgam Terror Attack
Golaghat (Assam), India, April 27 (ANI): Authorities have apprehended a woman from the Golaghat district after she was arrested by the Crime Branch in Guwahati for reportedly expressing "contentious" and "unpatriotic" remarks. Pahalgam terror attack According to a police official, the woman was later transferred to the Golaghat police station, where she was taken into custody.
Up to 26 individuals, largely visitors, lost their lives in the event that occurred at the Baisaran meadow in Pahalgam, located in Jammu and Kashmir, on April 22.
The Golaghat Superintendent of Police (SP), Rajen Singh, informed ANI one day prior stating, “Dadhichi Dimple, also known as Dimple Baruah from the Golaghat district in Assam, was apprehended by the Crime Branch officials in Guwahati due to her involvement in posting contentious and treasonous remarks regarding the #PahalgamTerrorAttack. Subsequently, she was transferred into the custody of the Golaghat police who then took charge of arresting her and bringing her to the local Golaghat police station.”
At the same time, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has supported the arrest of AIUDF MLA Aminul Islam , claiming that it was warranted because of his purported statements supporting Pakistan.
On Saturday, addressing the press regarding the arrest of individuals who expressed support for Pakistan, the Chief Minister of Assam stated, “So far, eight to nine people have been apprehended. This is why Aminul Islam is behind bars. I will repeat this process. If necessary, I will take further actions against anyone holding similar views.”
A local court in Assam’s Nagaon district ordered MLA Aminul Islam into four days of police custody on Friday when he appeared before the court.
Previously, Assam Chief Minister Sarma offered comprehensive details about those apprehended and pledged strict measures against anyone endorsing or protecting Pakistan regarding the recent terrorist incident in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.
In his latest update, he stated, “Assam refuses to accept anyone who either explicitly or implicitly backs Pakistan regarding the atrocious incident in Pahalgam. Up until now, these people have been detained by @assampolice for allegedly advocating for Pakistan’s agenda through social media: from Hailakandi –Md. Jabir Hussain; from Silchar – Md. A.K. Bahauddin, Md. Javed Mazumder; from Morigaon – Md. Mahahar Mia, Md. Mujihirul Islam; from Nagaon – Md. Aminul Islam; from Sivasagar – Md. Sahil Ali. Additional detentions are currently taking place as part of our continuous operation.”
In a separate posting, he mentioned that two more people have been detained in relation to the assault. He stated, “Continuing with their rigorous efforts against those advocating anti-national views, the @assampolice has apprehended two more individuals: Barpeta -Md. Jarif Ali (25), who goes by the alias Sharif Singh, and Biswanath - Anil Bania, the District Secretary of the Satra Mukti Sangram Parishad.”
On Thursday, as reported by Nagaon SP Swapnaneel Deka, a video appeared on social media platforms showing AIUDF MLA Aminul Islam issued a significantly incorrect statement regarding the recent terror attack in Pahalgam.
Deka stated that in the video he was defending the terrorists, due to which the police have taken cognisance of the video and have arrested him by registering a case.
Deka added that he will be presented in court on Friday."Today, we saw a video circulating on social media in which MLA Aminul Islam made a very wrong statement on the recent terror attack in Pahalgam. He was defending the terrorists... So we have taken cognisance of this video and registered a case, arrested him, and he will be produced in court tomorrow (Friday)", Swapnaneel Deka told reporters earlier. (ANI)
According to an official statement from Assam Police, Islam has been charged under sections 152/196/197(1)/113(3)/352/353 of the Bharatiya Nyay Samhita (BNS). (ANI)
