Baseball: Imanaga Suffers First Loss as Cubs Fall to Rangers

Shota Imanaga surrendered a season-best five runs across five innings and absorbed his initial defeat of the year as the Chicago Cubs fell to the Texas Rangers with a score of 6-2 on Wednesday.

Imanaga (2-1) recorded four strikeouts and surrendered seven hits, which included two home runs. The Japanese southpaw was taken out of the game following the Rangers' explosive four-run fifth inning at Wrigley Field.

The fifth inning saw some instances where I thought things were going well for me, which made it somewhat disheartening," he stated. "It’s easy to get caught off guard during such times, leading to a significant scoring burst from the opposing team.

Corey Seager, the Rangers' shortstop, hit two home runs, including one against Imanaga in the first inning, helping his team escape with a win and prevent a series sweep.

Seiya Suzuki had two hits out of four at-bats and drove in one run while hitting third as the designated hitter for the Cubs.

During the game at Nationals Park, Shohei Ohtani had an impressive performance going 2-for-4 with a walk and scoring two runs. This extended his streak of reaching base safely to a career-high 14 consecutive games starting from Opening Day, helping the Los Angeles Dodgers secure a 6-5 victory over the Washington Nationals.

Yusei Kikuchi from the Los Angeles Angels started the game with a record of 0-2. He managed to strike out five batters but gave up four runs during six innings as his team lost to the Tampa Bay Rays with a score of 5-4 at George M. Steinbrenner Field.
