Mawra Hocane Supports Fawad Khan Amid Bollywood Comeback Controversy
On April 10, Pakistan-based actress Mawra Hocane expressed her opinion regarding the controversy surrounding Fawad Khan’s return to Bollywood through his film 'Abhir Gulal' in India.
Khan is poised to come back to the Hindi film industry after a six-year hiatus with a romantic drama featuring Bollywood actress Vaani Kapoor.
Directed by Aarti S Bagdi, 'Abir Gulal' is set to release in cinemas on May 9th.
In addition to Fawad Khan and Vaani Kapoor, the movie features Riddhi Dogra, Lisa Haydon, Soni Razdan, Farida Jalal, and Parmeet Sethi.
After the movie was announced, certain political organizations in India called for a boycott due to their opposition to Pakistani actors returning to work in Bollywood.
In the face of criticism, Mawra Hocane has supported Fawad Khan’s performance and stated that 'Abir Gulal' is expected to perform well at the box office.
In a recent interview with an Indian news organization, the Pakistani performer addressed concerns regarding opposition faced by entertainers from Pakistan in India.
She replied, "It doesn’t bother me personally. That’s just the way things go, isn’t it? I genuinely think that if something is supposed to occur, it will. I try to ignore all the distractions surrounding my work. Since I enjoy what I’m doing, external issues don’t impact me much. It really falls under the producer's responsibility—though admittedly, that can be unfortunate—but it remains their concern. Should I dwell on thoughts like ‘What might transpire?’ then I’d constantly feel uneasy."
Mawra Hocane shared making a call to Fawad Khan, stating, "Whenever our peers achieve success, we naturally connect with one another. We extend our good wishes. My genuine desire is for everybody’s prosperity. I am hopeful that this movie will be very successful."
It should be mentioned that Khan has appeared in successful Bollywood movies like 'Ae Dil Hai Mushkil,' 'Khoobsurat,' and 'Kapoor & Sons.'
