Karnataka Minister DK Shivakumar Blasts Centre Over Soaring Prices – International Edition (English)

Bengaluru ( Karnataka [India], April 29 (ANI): Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has launched a scathing attack on the BJP-led central government, accusing it of fuelling inflation and failing to protect people from the "rising prices" of essential commodities.

Speaking at a rally organised on Monday to protest the price hike, Shivakumar said, "We are taking out this rally to protect the people from the incessant price rise We implemented the warranty programs to reduce the financial load. price rise on the common people."

Aiming at the BJP's current 'Janakrosha Yatra' in the region, he stated that the demonstration ought to focus on the party’s administration at the national level instead.

"Paradoxically, the BJP-led Central Government increased the prices of petrol and diesel on the very day when the state branch of the BJP initiated protests against the State government," stated the Congress leader.

He further stated that the BJP's objection to the increase in milk prices demonstrated their "anti-farmer stance," emphasizing that this rise actually helps farmers directly.

Emphasizing the state government's welfare initiatives, he stated, “Our Chief Minister allocated Rs52,000 crores for the assurance program, and the BJP claimed we would face bankruptcy. However, we've implemented these guarantee programs and are simultaneously committing significant funds towards developmental projects.”

He also added, "BJP is trying to do politics of emotion while we do politics of livelihood. Our government has given guarantee schemes to lower the burden of inflation. People should question the BJP on what it has done to reduce the impact of price rise ."

He further mentioned that the Congress government was dedicated to safeguarding the legacy of Dr B.R. Ambedkar, stating, “In the last election, you bestowed upon us your support. While power may be transient, our achievements will endure. Our efforts are focused on returning this trust. Additionally, we are striving diligently to protect Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s heritage from the insults inflicted by the BJP-led administration.”

Regarding the recent terrorist incident in Jammu and Kashmir, Shivakumar declared an ex gratia payment of Rs 10 lakhs for the affected victims. Karnataka .

He strongly objected to purported efforts by BJP members to disturb Congress gatherings.

"If the BJP persists with these efforts to send protesters waving black flags to our gatherings, I want to caution the leadership that we will not permit them to hold any functions within this state. It is imperative for the BJP leaders to instruct their members against engaging in such behavior; otherwise, we stand prepared to respond accordingly," he stated. (ANI)
